Monica M, Dalkey, Co. Dublin - Drives a BMW 520d
1) Why did you consider a MultiMac?
I considered MultiMac as the answer to a big problem, how can you fit three or four small children safely into a family car? In June 2007 I had just bought (invested in) what I considered to be a safe reliable family car BMW 520d M Auto, which I intended to hold onto for a number of years. I had two children at the time, one 3 years and the other 10 months.
I found out only weeks later I was expecting another baby the following March, I started to look at various child seats none of which would fit in between my two existing child seats. I contacted BMW directly but they could offer no solution except to have an airbag switch fitted for the front passenger seat. I had the airbag switch fitted and when the new baby arrived I put him rear facing in the front passenger seat but this was only a temporary solution to my problem.
I really didn't want to trade in my safe reliable family car, the market had changed dramatically in Ireland due to a change in VRT rates, my car had depreciated so much the financial loss in such a short time was unbelievable, plus I didn't want to drive a people carrier, or an SUV.
When I saw the MultiMac in the Sunday Times a few months later I knew this was the answer, and at around the same time I realised I was pregnant again with my fourth child. I could fit all four children safely into my car and still not loose my boot space which is key when you have three children under three years.
2) What convinced you to purchase a MultiMac?
I didn't need any convincing, I just needed to check with the Road Safety Authority here in Ireland if the MultiMac complied with EU safety regulations which it did, and I also checked with my insurance company. My husband and I met with Kevin and looked at the MultiMac in my car, we discussed installation etc and I placed my order the very next day.
3) Would you recommend a MultiMac to anyone else, and if so why?
I have recommended MultiMac to lots of people and I know a few have already placed orders for them. In general people don't want to drive big cars apart from the expense of changing your car, most seven seaters are very awkward to manoeuvre and park, the children who are seated in the back are very far away from the driver and if you use your three rows of seats you loose your boot space too.
4) What are your 'likes' of the MultiMac? Has it made life easier?
I like the MultiMac because my children are safe when travelling in my car, its neat, I can take the rear facing baby seat out and put in a front facing child’s seat in seconds, my daughter can have some friends over after school for play dates and their mothers know they are travelling safely in my car.
5) What do your children think of the MultiMac?
My children like the MultiMac, they initially had a problem with the crotch straps being to short but that has been rectified so all happy now.
6) Any other feedback?
